Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Take a look below to see frequently asked questions from our customers.  Please contact us if there is anything else we can help you with.

How long will my beans last?

Beans start to loose their freshness and flavour 14-21 days after roasting due to the release of gases.  This alters the composition and characteristics within the bean and this is why Arrosta Coffee subscribes to the fresh is best philosophy.  It is better to buy little and often, rather than trying to make coffee with beans that are not fresh.  Read more about our beans here...

Why is my coffee pouring too fast?

There are a number of things this could be.  Your grind could be too coarse with extra humidity in the air.   Moisture in the air means you will be unable to tamp the coffee as tightly as normal, so water will flow through the basket too fast.  Refer to your Arrosta  training manual on grinding or, give us a call to discuss - we'd be happy to help.  Interested in our Barista Workshops to help you with this?  Read here...

What is the best machine for home use?

Every household is unique in terms of its coffee needs - unfortunately its not a one size fits all solution.  It's really about the total coffee experience and what you are wanting from your coffee machine.  Consideration also need to be given to warranty issues and local servicing if anything goes wrong with your machine.  If you are wanting to be able to make large volumes of coffees, you may need to consider a machine that has commercial componentry to ensure the steam pressure is able to keep up with the extraction as well as being able to steam milk simultaneously.  Give us a call to discuss this with you and to test drive our domestic espresso machines.  We are happy to make a time that suits you to come in to discuss your specific circumstances with us.  Want to know more about our machines?..

How often do I need to get my machine serviced?

This is dependant on how often the machine is used, but generally about 1-2 times per year.  Call us to talk about our scheduled servicing programme that ensures your machine will be regularly maintained and cared for.  Read more...
